Coming from an Engineering/Biology background, Dr. Abbott received his DMD from Tufts University in 1991. He was also given The American Academy of Periodontology Award & The American Academy of Oral Medicine Award. He completed his Postgraduate Studies in Periodontics & Implantology and was awarded The Certificate in Periodontology in 1993. Dr. Abbott was a Clinical Instructor at Tufts Dental School, Department of Periodontology from 1993 to 1999. He taught at the undergraduate and postgraduate clinics. During the same period, he gave pathology seminars under the direction of Department of Oral Medicine at Tufts Dental School. Over the years, he has dedicated a great deal of his practice to dental implant surgery and bone regenerative procedures. His greatest interest is bone regeneration in the upper jaw. He and his wife, Dr. Roya Abbott have treated many complicated and complex implant cases over the years. By not having to refer patients outside their practice either for implant surgery or implant restoration, they have great control over complex cases. Control paired with open communication between the two, have made for a much more favorable and successful treatment outcome over the years. They use state-of-the-art technology to plan dental implant cases. The office is equipped with a Cone Beam CT Scanner, which is crucial in the success of dental implant treatment. Also, thru the use of two powerful Implant Software systems (Sidexis & Nobel Clinician), the surgical & restorative procedures can be virtually done on the computer or a dental cast before anything is done on the patient. This ensures correct placement of implants and a safer surgical procedure. Dr. Abbott offers all facets of periodontal treatment including gum grafts, periodontal surgery, exposure of impacted teeth for orthodontic purposes, just to name a few.
In 2010, Dr. Abbott received his Certificate in Intravenous Sedation for Dentistry from Duquesne University. Since then, a great number of patients have requested and received moderate sedation during their dental treatment. This has opened this practice to a large population of patients who experience anxiety during their dental appointments.
